Hello friends!  We are VERY pleased to let you know that we are back in action next week!  We will be open our regular hours, starting at 9:30 on Tuesday morning.  Please wear a mask and expect a few changes that have been enacted to keep us all safe and healthy. Our website is under construction, but we hope to have it up and running by next week, and ready to keep you updated. Thank you for your patience as we make some ‘repairs.’

Imagine Your Story!

Summer Reading Program 2020 at Cannon Free Library

We are pleased to announce our Summer Reading Program for 2020; slightly modified, a little different, not ‘in-person’, but still fun!  The 2020 summer reading slogan and theme is “Imagine Your Story,” a celebration of fairy tales, folklore, mythology, and sharing your own unique story and voice. There will be many great ways to win prizes, including books, toys, t-shirts, water bottles, and summer food treats! This program is for kids of all ages!

HOW TO SIGN UP?

Get started right away by signing up with Mary Pelletier via email at di.mary@4cls.org, or call the library at (607) 746-2662.  We will need your name (or child’s name) and age, email and phone, and a summer reading goal (number of books). Reading logs and BINGO board sheets are also attached, here, to this newsletter. If you would like to sign up in person, we invite you to visit the library tomorrow, Friday, June 26th, from 10-12, OUTSIDE in front of the library. Sign up yourself or your child/ren, and pick up a reading log, “BINGO” activity sheet, a bookmark and POPSICLE!

There is a lot to look forward to at Cannon Free Library this summer:

  • The (virtual) return of The DIRTMEISTER, scientist Steve Tomecek, July 7th at 10:30am, via Zoom.
  • Around The Town Book-Themed Scavenger Hunt for kids of all ages, families, everyone! Clues available starting in July.
  • Photo-based Imagine Your Town Scavenger Hunt on Facebook and around Delhi; will be posted in August.
  • “Read and Share” Zoom sessions with Ms. Mary on Wednesday mornings in July, at 10am, for 3-8-ish year olds and their grown-ups. Storytime and “show and tell”!
  • Virtual Art session via Zoom, with our very own library director and resident artist, Susan Frisbee!
  • Virtual Ukulele Workshop: Join DA Ukulele Club rising senior, Sarah Wake, for two Thursday morning ukulele workshops via Zoom, July 23 and 30, at 10am. Learn some new chords and simple songs to play and sing at home!
  • A lively music and storytelling program with Story Laurie in August (also via Zoom). Date TBD.
  • Stay tuned for news (and Zoom links) about these and other activities, as we move forward with a very happy re-opening– soon! As the state and county guidelines progress into Stage 4, and we feel we can be safe, we’re hoping to host some outdoor art, music and/or movement and yoga sessions in August.

Make this the summer you explore new adventures through different reading experiences and activities.  I encourage kids of all ages to sign up and READ! We can’t wait to see you soon and we can’t wait to hear about all the great books you’re reading!

Best wishes,

from all of us at Cannon Free Library
